Dell to release quad-core AMD-based Inspiron very soon

Dell has announced the Inspiron M501R, a 15.6-inch laptop on AMD's Mainstream platform that will feature a quad-core Phenom II X4 CPU. It marks the first quad-core laptop offering from Dell (if you exclude Dell's Core i7-based Alienware m15x gaming monster). Pricing is unknown at this time, but it's a safe bet that the Inspiron M501R will cost a lot less than the M15x when it's released this summer.

The Inspiron M501R is built on the AMD M880G chipset and will give you the option of integrated ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics or a 1GB Radeon 550v graphics card. It will offer up to 8GB of DDR3 memory and up to a 640GB hard drive. The 15.6-inch LED display will do 720p HD video, and you'll have the option of a DVD burner or Blu-ray drive. A 9-cell battery is offered in addition to the standard 6-cell unit.

As for the Inspiron M501R's appearance, Dell promises "sleek new contours, curved edges, chrome accents and brushed color finishes for the LCD back" and a "smudge-resistant palmrest, a comfortable full-size keyboard with adjacent 10-key numeric keypad and stiff chassis for exceptional reliability and durability." Dell had an Inspiron M501R price range up on its site with some specs listed, but it has since been removed. We expect the Inspiron M501R to return to Dell's site in time for back-to-school shoppers.

Apple tops Microsoft as world's most valuable tech firm...

Apple just passed a major milestone today, becoming the world's largest technology generating company as measured by the total value of its shares.

Apple's market capitalization stood at $223 billion, near the close of trading on the Nasdaq exchange. Microsoft is at No. 2,which had a market cap of $219.3 billion.

It is the first time that Apple's total share worth climbed above that of Microsoft's.

It is really awesome news for Apple and its fans conidering the fact that seven years ago, the company traded at less than cash.
